Kudos to Bambanti!

There are undoubtedly innumerable talented Filipino artists present
in our generation who are passionate about their craft. From the guiding forefathers
who continuously create masterpieces of their own, to the broad line
of newcomers who are persistent in proving something on their chosen fields.

The Filipino movie industry have had its share of emerging talents through
Indie films and the whole world bear witness to that. Over the years,
many Pinoy Indie films have won numerous recognition from Film Festivals
all over the globe. And just recently, the Indie film Bambanti, bagged Best Film
at the Brussels International Festival of Film, an international competition
aimed to discover movies with strong narratives from different countries
and become known as a festival with no language barrier.

Sinag Maynila Festival Director, Brillante Ma. Mendoza, received the award
as he was one of the film's executive producers along with Wilson Tieng.
Bambanti is a film which questions the preconception of the rich towards the poor
when the son of a housemaid was suspected to have stolen the employer's golden
watch. The film's main cast includes Alessandra de Rossi, Shamaine Buencamino,
Julio Diaz, Micko Laurente, Delphine Buencamino, Lui Manansala, Celio Aquino,
Abegail Edillo, Erlinda Villalobos, and Kiki Baento.

The exceptional film was written and directed by Zig Carlos Madamba Dulay,
a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, rolled into one talented human being.
He was born in Santiago, Isabela and holds a degree in Communication Arts
from the University of the Philippines Baguio. He is currently taking up
his Masters in U.P. Diliman specializing in creative writing.
He began his directing career in 2009 on 1017: Sa Paglaya ng Aking Salita,
followed by Huling Halik in 2011. He have also written screenplays
and TV series episodes. Among his famous works were Ekstra, an Indie film
he wrote together with Antoinette Jadaone and Jeffrey Jeturian in 2013,
and Posas, a film which addresses the process of corruption in the police force.

Bambanti was also nominated for Best Picture at Sinag Maynila Film Festival,
in which actress Alessandra de Rossi won Best Actress.
The lead child actor in the film, Micko Laurente, was also given recognition
at the 19th International Children's Film Festival India where he won
the Golden Elephant for Best Actor.
