Review and FREE PDF: The Conjugal Dictatorship of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos by Primitivo Mijares (1976 Edition)

The book we are about to share is yet another perspective
of stated historical testimony regarding the Marcos dictatorship.
Not everyone may give credence to the author,
maybe because it had been obscured these past ages,
and that gives more reason for it to shed some light now.
The intention of sharing this, however, is not to demean the belief of others.

The author, Primitivo Mijares, was the former right-hand aid,
media propagandist, and press censor of Ferdinand Marcos,
turned primary witness and whistleblower against the Marcos regime.
He withdrew his support from Marcos and testified at the US Congress,
exposing the Marcos' abuse of power during Martial Law.
Being the journalist that he was, he authored the book,
The Conjugal Dictatorship of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos
that was known to reveal details of corruption
and human rights violation by the formidable couple.

The book provides its readers an insider's view on how it was like
to be a trusted comrade at the MalacaƱang Palace.
From the fabrication of the 1973 referenda results,
the faking of Ferdinand Marcos' war records,
and mere political hearsay among others.
There is an obvious tone of exaggeration and bitterness
of a disillusioned journalist throughout the book though.

Months after the book was released in the United States,
Primitivo Mijares mysteriously vanished from the face of the Earth,
one among many desaparecidos, casualty of forced disappearance.
There were speculations that the Marcoses were behind this.
However, Mijares also had issues of his own prior everything.
Other journalists have known him pocketing, borrowing,
and spending money audaciously, hence his money issues.
And this fact somehow disparage his credibility and his writing.

Whether this book delivers factual accounts,
or assert bended truths, no one can certainly tell.
You may be a Marcos loyalist and find this very offending,
or a full-fledged anti-Marcos who believes this all the way,
but being on a neutral side makes the reader more appreciative
of what this compelling work has to offer and discover the tone
to which a reader could find viable evidence of veracity.
