What is SparkleLab?
SparkleLab is a research and development space where we develop new models for teaching and learning, and imagine the future of education. We are an interdisciplinary team of artists, designers, technologists, and educators who are passionate about working with young people who firmly believe in a fun-filled play-based approach to learning.
SparkleLab offers afterschool enrichment and summer programs in the areas of Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, and the Arts. We have workshops that range from toy making to game design and development, soft circuits and wearable technology, film making and animation, robotics, electronics and code. Responsibilities of a Curriculum Writer/Developer
The Creative Writer and Curriculum Developer will develop educational content in areas realted to design, media, technology, and the arts. He/she will report directly to the Chief Production Officer. Responsibilities include:
• Developing curricula and assessment programs including: game design and development, toy making, the Internet of Things, digital fabrication, animation, film making, robotics.
• Working with the SparkleLab hub team to develop a comprehensive and consistent STEAM program in the aforementioned areas.
• Creative writing, which includes developing curriculum guides for educators and instructional resources for kids, which may take the form of animations, games, top secret dossiers and even - gasp! messages from other universities.
• Tinkering, playing, constantly learning
• Staying current on arts, technology, and education strategies, trends, and initiatives; and
• Imagining the future of education
What is SparkleLab looking for?
◘ We are looking for a writer/educator who is passionate about developing creative and compelling educational content across a variety of media.
◘ We are looking for an individual who is playful, imaginative, tech-savvy, and exhilarated by the possibility of developing new learning environments in physical and virtual spaces.
◘ A background in education and curriculum development is a must.
◘ A portfolio of creative writing a definite plus.
